HIV/STI Prevention

Together Programs – HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Prevention Services

The Together Program’s HIV/STI Prevention Services provide testing, education and outreach for people at risk or currently infected with HIV or syphilis. Our goal is to help individuals protect themselves, prevent the spread of disease, and reduce substance abuse which often contributes to risky behaviors.

• The program provides services to over 4000 persons annually.
• 99% say they would recommend this program to friends or family.

Testing, Counseling and Education
Free and confidential testing for HIV and syphilis is provided in a safe and comfortable setting. HIV results are provided within 20 minutes; syphilis results are available within three business days. HIV and STI prevention counseling is also provided. Education is provided throughout Maricopa County.

Morning  Program
This free program is for homeless and near homeless persons who have problems with substance use and abuse.  The interactive educational and skill building program begins with a staff-led group discussion on substance abuse and related topics. The group discussion is followed by breakfast. Showers and a clothing exchange are available and offered with referrals to social service agencies or treatment services as needed.

Together, Living Better
This program focuses on breaking down barriers and stigma individuals that are HIV positive or at high risk face. The program focuses on two interventions; CLEAR (Choosing Life! Empowerment! Action! and Results!) this affords individuals the opportunity they need pertaining to their empowerment and new perspectives, with the support of a counselor. Healthy Relationships is a group level intervention that is peer driven focusing around better communication and building outside relationships.

Syphilis Prevention
The Syphilis Prevention program provides education and testing. The free test for syphilis is a simple blood draw with results available in approximately three business days. The educational part of the program dispels myths about syphilis and provides a safe environment for people to ask questions in a respectful setting. Referrals can be made to treatment providers, including some who offer free services.
